Great Salt Bay girls’ basketball team won the Busline League championship, 34-21 over St. George Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Academy. The Lady Cougars led the entire game, jumping out to a 6-0 lead. Olivia York scored the opening hoop, and Leslie Sandefur settled two at the foul line and went inside on a pass from Danielle Pinkham in the quick start.
GSB led 10-4 at the quarter, 17-7 at the half and 23-15 at the end of three. The Cougars led by as many as 13 in the first half. St. George pulled within six with 6:18 to go in the fourth quarter. Sandefur crashed the glass for two to boost the lead to eight. The Cougars played solid defense and did not give up another basket from the floor for the remainder of the game.
Sandefur scored 10 of her game high 21 points off the boards (11R,7S). Also scoring for GSB were Pinkham 5 (5R,4A), York 4 (8R), Isabel Carlson 2 (4R,4S), and Taylor Oliver 2 (7R,6S). Scoring for St. George were Lily Vachon 7, Alexis Davis 6 (7R,2B), Bailee Cox 5 (6R,3S,3B), Paige Tyler 2 (5r,2B), and Courtney Simmons 1.
