Lincoln Academy girls’ basketball team snapped a five game losing streak Tuesday night on the road at MCI. The Lady Eagles inched ahead of the Huskies, leading 7-6, 14-12, and 19-13 at the quarter breaks. Defensively, “it was pretty much a team effort. They played a pretty good 1-3-1 and did a little bit of trapping,” coach Conrad Lewis said.
Scoring for the Eagles were Katherine Bolster 9, Merissa Look 8, Laura Soohey 2 and Kelsey Schwarz 2. Scoring for MCI were Ashley Kitchen 6, Meghan Hughes 4, Kylee Alton 4, Katherine Smedberg 3 and Jenna Tozier 3.
Anna Budrow went down after a hard collision with a Lion, and injured her knee with 5:22 to play in the game. No foul was called on the play.
Katrina Lapham scored the game winning point at the foul line on a soft foul with 56 seconds to play. Lapham scored 12 of her 15 points in the final period to lead the Lions’ comeback bid.
Scoring for Lincoln were Soohey 19 (12R,2B), Katherine Bolster 6 (4R,4S,3B,5A), Budrow 6 (7R), Marni Jones 2 (3R,2S), and Kelsey Schwarz 2 (4R,1B). Scoring for the Lions were Lapham 15, Lexi Nelligan 8 (6R,6S,2B), Kayla Carpentier 4, Courtney Drinkwater 4, Elizabeth Rauch 3 and Makaya Cummings 2.
