Medomak Valley girls’ basketball team handed Lincoln Academy a 49-29 loss in Newcastle in the two teams’ KVAC season finale on Feb. 4.
Medomak won their final six games of the season to finish at 14-4, and qualify for post season play. Lincoln Academy finished the season at 7-11 and out of the playoff picture.
The Panthers got off to a slow start against an aggressive Eagle defense. Lincoln led 8-7 at the 1st quarter break, before Medomak lit up the nets for 15 points in the 2nd frame, while holding the Eagles to six to take a 22-14 lead at the half. Daniel Dyer scored off her own steal and Ericka Christensen scored on a Nicole Weaver feed to open the 2nd period and give Medomak the lead for good. The Panthers won the 3rd quarter 14-4 to lead 36-21 at the end of three.
Scoring for Medomak were Dyer 13 (4S,2A), Christensen 13 (10R,2S), Lindsay Ranquist 6 (4R,4S,1A), Nicole Peterson 6 (2R,2S,2A), Alanna Vose 3 (4R,2S), Vanessa Davis 2, and Ashley Rackliff 2.
