The 13th annual Alvin Sproul Samoset 10K had clear skies and fast times. Thomas Leger of Exeter, N.H. and Meridith Anand of Easton, Mass., set the pace for the 105 runners on Sunday.
Leger won the men’s category in what turns out to have been his first 10K race ever in a blistering time of 35:33. Leger beat out local favorite Gary Ward by 1:31. Anand’s time of 37:58 was good for 5th place overall and was nearly a course record – she beat out Megan Peterson by 1:02.
Over 160 runners, walkers and fun run participants came out for what was a great day to support the Bristol Fire and Rescue. All the proceeds from the race go to benefit the Bristol Fire and Rescue The race is held in conjunction with the Bristol Parks and Recreation Commission’s Annual Olde Bristol Days celebration.
