Lincoln Academy boys’ basketball team wrapped up their KVAC season with a 49-37 win at Medomak on Feb. 5. The Eagles got off to a slow start, trailing 12-4. Ben McLain hit a 3-pointer at the first quarter buzzer to close the gap to five, 12-7 at the break.
Alex MacKenzie extended Medomak’s lead to seven at the foul line in the second frame, before the Eagles went on a 15-2 run to close out the half with a 22-16 lead.
Ethan Wajer and Andrew Feltis hit 3-pointers in the come back rally.
Lincoln boosted their lead to 10 at the start of the third quarter on a hoop from Matt Poole and two foul shots from McLain. Kevin Fogg and MacKenzie scored to cut the lead to six. Pat Mullin hit a three and an inside hoop to boost the lead to eleven. Caleb Guistra came off the bench to lead Medomak on a 6-2 run to cut the lead to seven at the break, 33-26.
Medomak cut the lead to five in the final period. Lincoln answered the challenge with a 9-2 run, paced by back-to-back buckets from McLain to put the game out of reach of the Panthers.
Scoring for Lincoln were Wajer 14 (3R,1A), McLain 13 (6R,2A), Mullin 7 (2R,1B,3A), Brandon Reilly 6 (6R,2A,1B), Feltis 4 (2S,2A), Everett Martin 3 and Poole 2 (2R). Scoring for Medomak were Alex MacKenzie 13 (9R,2S), Alex Goldrup 8 (3R,1S), Guistra 6 (2R,1A), Fogg 4 (2R,3S), Fogg 2(2R,3S), Taylor Williamson 2 and Isaac Durkee 2 (3R,2S).
