The Medomak Valley girls’ track and field team opened their 2010 KVAC season with a win at Camden on April 14. The Lady Panthers scored 172 points to beat out Camden 128, Lincoln Academy 117, Maranacook 101, and Islesboro 27.
“The Panthers showed their quality depth with many seconds to eighth place strong finishes. The Panthers understand that it is early in the season and there is a lot of work ahead for everyone,” coach George Gould said.
Medomak girls won six events, led by Morgan Baum, who won the discus (87’3″), shot put (27’4″) and javelin (87’1″). Ashley Rackliff won the 100m dash in 13.097 and placed 3rd in the 200 in 29.34.
Brianna Gross earned her first win in the triple jump (20’6″) and was 8th in the long jump (9’8.5″). The Lady Panthers won the 4×800 relay in 10:58.72 with Kiana Ocean, Megan Wyllie, Nicole Weaver, and Gwen Moiles running a leg.
Medomak girls placed 2nd in the 4×100 (Julie Ennamorati, Rackliff, Lacy Massengale and Emily Leach) in 58 seconds, and were 2nd in the 4×400 relay in 5:06 with Weaver, Kelsie Grady, Heidi Harris, and Wyllie.
Katja Assfalg placed 2nd in the javelin (58’3″). Julie Ennamorati placed 2nd in the 100 in 14.0, 4th in the 200 in 29.75 and 5th in the long jump (12’9″). Nicole Weaver placed 2nd in the 800 in 2:48.
Abby Vail was 2nd in the discus (70’4″) and 5th in shot put (18’4″). Heidi Harris was 3rd in the 400 in 1:11. Kiana Ocean was 3rd in the 1600 in 6:15 and Megan Wyllie 4th in the 1600 in 6:36. Jessica Prescott was 3rd in the shot put (18’6″) and 6th in the discus (87’3″).
Desiree Leary was 3rd in the high jump (4’4″) and 7th in the 100 in 14.47. Emily Leach placed 5th in the 100 in 14.28 and 7th in the 200 in 31.5. Kelsie Grady was 7th in the shot put (16’4″) and 8th in the 800 in 3:40.
Lincoln girls won the 4×400 relay in 4:58 with Sara Komorowski, Katie Moran, Hannah Fake, and Nikki Leeman running a leg. Fake won the high jump (4’5″) and was 6th in the 800 in 3:04. Leeman placed 2nd in the 200 in 29.19, 2nd in the 400 in 1:05, and 3rd in the 100 hurdles in 20.10.
Andrea Gemeinhardt was 2nd in the racewalk in 11:07 and 8th in shot (13’1″). Komorowski was 2nd in the 300 hurdles in 57.5 and 2nd in the 100 hurdles in 20.5. Kiley Bickford was 2nd in the high jump (4’4″), 5th in the 300 hurdles in 1:13 and 8th in 100 hurdles in 28.85. Morgan Boyd was 2nd in the shot put (19’8″) and 5th in the discus (45’5″). Katie Moran was 2nd in the long jump (13’2″). Erin Dodge placed 4th in the discus (55′), 4th in javelin (36’7″) and 6th in the shot put (18’1″). Carolyn MacDonald was 7th in the 400 in 1:23.
Medomak boys won four events. Alex MacKenzie won the long jump (18’6.5″) and the triple jump (40’5″) and took 2nd in the high jump (5’4″). Patrick O’Donnell won the 400 in 53.46 and was 2nd in the 1600 in 4:56. The Panthers won the 4×100 relay with Deering Genthner, Josh Parmenter, MacKenzie and Nate Meade.
Ian Rixon took 2nd in the racewalk in 9:31. Genthner was 2nd in the 100 in 12.93, 3rd in the 200 in 24.66 and 4th in the long jump (17’6″). Parmenter was 2nd in the 300 hurdles in 44.16 and 4th in the 200 in 24.91. Meade was 2nd in the 200 in 24.44, 3rd in the 100 in 12.04 and 3rd in the long jump 17′ 8.25″). Jon Hendrickson was 2nd in the triple jump (35’7″), 7th in the long jump (16’6.5″) and 8th in the 100 in 12.71. Nathaniel McBrien was 4th in the javelin (110’3″) and 5th in the long jump (16′ 7.5″). TJ Harriman was 4th in the 110 hurdles in 23.57 and 7th in the discus (79’6″). Joe Murphy was 5th in the 3200 in 13.13 and 8th in the 800 in 2.40. Devon Sproul was 4th in the high jump (5′), 6th in the 100 in 12.56 and 6th in the 200 in 26.0. Mike Gillman was 5th in the shot put (32.3″) and 8th in the discus (77’9″). Brendan O’Donnell was 6th in the 800 in 2.34.
The Panthers placed 2nd in the 4×400 in 4:06 and 2nd in the 4×800 in 9:54 with McBrien, Taylor Packard, B. O’Donnell and Murphy.
Lincoln boys placed 3rd in the 4×800 in 10:54 with Oliver Hodous, Steven Severance, Peter Wells and Austin Clark, and 3rd in the 4×400 relay in 4:09 with Zach Miller, Will Hadden, Shawn Grooms and Jian Giglia.
Giglia won the 200 in 23.59 and was 2nd in the 400 in 54.0. Miller and took 2nd in the 110 high hurdles in 18.37 and 3rd in the 300 hurdles in 46.37. Eric Roberts was 2nd in the discus (98’2″), 4th in the shot put (35’8″) and 6th in the javelin (106’3″). Alex Braley was 3rd in the javelin (120’8″). Severance was 6th in the 400 in 1:04. Liam Mullen tied for 6th in the high jump (4’11”) and 7th in the 200 in 26.48. Matt Poland placed 6th in the 3200 in 16:50. Peter Wells was 7th in the 400 in 1:05. Oliver Hodous took 7th in the 80 in 2:40. Kevin Sandefur was 8th in the 400 in 1:05.
Three Lincoln Academy athletes qualified for the KVAC meet, Nikki Leeman in the 400, Jian Giglia in the 200 and 400, and Zach Miller in the 110 hurdles.
