Medomak girls return just three players from a team that went 16-2 last season and were KVAC and East Class B runner-ups. The Lady Panthers return one of their top three leading scorers, senior Alanna Vose. Vose is the playmaker on this year’s team, handling the ball and setting the tone on defense with her hustle.
The 2011-12 squad is much smaller than last year, so Medomak will rely on their quickness and trademark tough as nails defense. The biggest void they will have to fill is replacing leading rebounders and scorers Ericka Christensen and Lindsay Ranquist.
Medomak opens at home on Fri., Dec. 9 against Oceanside at 7 p.m.
Seniors on this year’s squad include Vose, Taylor Poli, Mallory Robbins, Taylor Simmons, and Mallory Conary. Juniors include Heidi Obuchon, Elise Wallace, Emily Leach, Amanda Hendrickson-Belloguet, Desiree Benner, and Missy Philbrook.
Returning coach Randy Hooper looks for Leavitt and Nokomis to be the top teams to beat in the KVAC this season.
