The Eagles stayed with Medomak in first half action, before the Panthers roared to 43 second half points to put the game out of reach in the two teams’ season finale on Feb. 10. The game was a must win for both teams, Lincoln Academy needed a win to make the West B playoffs, and Medomak needed the win to challenge Camden for the KVAC championship.
Medomak sophomore John Murray set the tone early, crashing the glass for the first two hoops of the game. The Panthers went up 7-4, before Brandon Reilly scored on a Kyle Scherer feed and settled two at the line to give the Eagles a one point lead with 2:02 to go in the first quarter. Kyle Durkee converted off the glass, and then fed his twin brother Isaac to give the Panthers the lead for good. Dylan Leavitt cut the lead to one by quarter’s end on a feed from Reilly.
Murray opened the second quarter with another hoop off the glass. D. Leavitt pulled Lincoln within one, before the Panthers went on a 10-2 run. Medomak pumped in 21 points in the quarter, to lead 32-25 at the half. The Panthers held a 22-15 advantage in the third to lead 54-40 at the end of three. Medomak went on to win 75-49.
Medomak scored 14 points off the boards, led by Murray with five put backs. Scoring for Medomak were Murray 21 (10R,2B), Alex Greenrose 14 (2A), Isaac Greenrose 9 ((2R,3A), Isaac Durkee 9 (7R,2S), Ryan Ripley 7, Kyle Durkee 6 (4R,3A), Brandon Soper 4, Deering Genthner 2, Travis Goldrup 2 and Quinton Vannah 1. Scoring for the Eagles were Stephen Quinlan 15(6R), Reilly 14 (4R,5A), Dylan Leavitt 7 (3R), Jalen Lincoln 5 (4R,2A), Everett Martin 4 (4R,2B), Zach Steeves 2, Kyle Scherer 1 (3R,3A) and Nic Phinney 1.
Medomak is seeded third in East Class B heal points with a 14-4 record. Lincoln finished the season at 9-9 and out of the playoff picture.
