The Medomak Valley Lady Panthers scored a dramatic come from behind win over the Camden Windjammers to win the 2011 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference softball championship at Oak Hill Friday afternoon.
The Lady Panthers fought off a valiant rally by the Camden Windjammers to emerge with the 7-6 victory.
The Panthers took control early and looked to be well on their way to the title, taking a 5-0 into the seventh inning.
Camden however refused to go quietly, rallying for six runs in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lady Panthers on their heels.
Medomak rallied back on the strength of a lead off triple from Lindsey Randquist. Alanna Vose rmoved Randquist over with a bunt single. Danielle Hunt reached on a fielder’s choice scoring Randquist to tie the game. Camden issued intentional walk to Taylor Simmons to load the bases.
Camden’s furious rally came to a disappointing conclusion when the next Panther batter, Heidi Obuchon, was hit by a pitch, scoring the winning run.
