Lincoln Academy sophomore Bailey Plourde competed in two tournaments in the International Junior Golf Tour over the past two weekends and placed in the top five in both.
Plourde finished third at the Jersey Shootout at Great Bay Country Club on April 4 and 5. She shot a two day total of 174, including stroking a 90 on the front half and 84 on the back.
Anina Ku (N.J.) won the tournament with a 79, and Ami Gianchandani (N.J.) placed second with an 89.
On March 28 and 29, Plourde finished fifth at the Metropolitan Junior at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township, N.J. Plourde shot an 85 and 88 for 173. The winner Kelly Sin (N.J.) won with a 154, followed by Esther Park (Del.) 157), Jessie Kweon (N.Y.) 162 and Katie Lee (N.J.) 169.
Plourde was paired with New Jersey golfers Kelly Sim and Yoona Kim.
She completed the first round with a 45/40 (85) to finish for fourth place. She had one birdie and five pars.
“For the first round of the season, (Bailey) felt pretty good about it. She struggled a little bit with club selection and getting her yardage out of the clubs. On the 14th hole she felt a small pull in her lower back and it showed some effect in the final round,” Bailey’s father, Bob Plourde, said.
