Distance runners who want to have one last fling before the clock is set back and winter sets in, could consider signing up for a unique trail experience at Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson, Sun., Oct. 30 at 9 a.m.
This off road half marathon (13.1 miles) takes runners through the rustic trails deep in the Maine woods. The track is challenging and does not repeat itself; the highly varied terrain, slippery roots and loose rocks will demand concentration and sharp focus.
Explore the beautiful mix of single and double-track trails over rolling terrain in this challenging racecourse.
Some short but significant climbs are involved as well as a gentle tour by a Great Pond. Hot food and drinks will be served around the fire pit after the race. Enjoy HVNC’s newly roofed education and welcoming cabin.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. with the fee just $25 (free for HVNC members – join for only $50). All proceeds will support the maintenance of HVNC trails and educational programs. Limited space remaining so please register soon at hvnc.org, or contact Gary at 586-6752, gary@hvnc.org, or Chris at 586-5161.
