Team Mobius competed in the 2013 Special Olympic Summer Games at the University of Maine Orono, June 7-9.
On Friday, Mobius picked up fourth and fifth place in the Bocce competition. The relay team of Will Groce, Joshua Strong, Eric Bowley and Laurie Curtis brought home silver medals. Strong took silver and Groce fourth in the 400 meter run.
Mobius enjoyed pizza on the common and watching the opening ceremony parade.
All athletic events were canceled on Saturday due to heavy rains. Athletes enjoyed playing games, watching movies, and listening and dancing to Mike Owens on guitar.
Sunday games were a go, and the walkers Gladys Walls, Marlene York, Tamya Catter and Mindy Stevens “all did a great job” coach Fondi York said. James Owens took home a fifth place medal in the 100m.
“Thanks to all the donations from area businesses, clubs and private individuals. Thanks to all that donated to the bottle shed and others who bought raffle tickets. Without their help we wouldn’t be able to attend the games,” York said.
