Two of CLC YMCA’s competitive gymnastics team members, under the direction of coach Janice Cormier-Hay, went to Waterville April 9 to compete at the USA Gymnastics State Meet. Emma Hall and Macallister Moss have added another piece to their competition season by participating at this highly competitive level.
They competed against seven teams from Maine Academy of Gymnastics in Westbrook, Dudziak’s gym in Biddeford, Andy Valley in Lewiston, Gymnation in Kennebunk, Leaps and Bounds in Fairfield and Western Maine Dance.
After the competition coach Janice said, “The girls’ balance beam was impressive as they hit their cartwheels and exhibited beautiful showmanship and steady form on the 4-in. wide apparatus.”
Coach also praised them and said, “They are working their routines with strong results on the other apparatus as well: vault, uneven bars and floor exercise. As a result, both Emma Hall and Macallister Moss earned their personal best all around scores for the season.”
Level 5, Age 7-8: Macallister Moss of Bristol came in 4th on vault with an 8.95; 7th on bars with a 8.45, came in 3rd on beam with a 9.1, tied for 2nd on floor with and 9.1 and placed 4th all around with a personal best score for the season of 35.6.
Level 5, Age 10: Emma Hall of Damariscotta came in 5th on vault with a personal best score of 9.0, 5th on bars with an 8.55, 6th on beam with an 8.7 and 4th on floor with an 8.85, placing 7th all around with a personal best score for the season of 35.10.
