The undefeated Bobtails beat the Fillies 14-4 on Saturday to win the Waldoboro Little League softball championship. Jewel Prior collected the win and Olivia Sevon the save. Shelbe Lane took the loss for the Fillies.
The Fillies put the pressure on early, with a run in the top of the 2nd inning. Bekah Hilt reached on an error and scored on an error. The Bobtails came roaring back in the home half of the 2nd with five runs. Katie Goldrup, Danielle Hilker, and McKayla Wallace walked to load up the bases for an RBI single to McKayla Brazier, RBI walk to Olivia Wheeler, RBI ground out to Josie Jamison and two run triple to Vanessa Rancourt.
The Fillies got one run back in the 3rd when Sevon singled and scored on a passed ball.
The Bobtails plated two runs in the 3rd. Jewel Prior walked and scored on an error. Goldrup, Hilker and Wallace walked to load up the bases for an RBI sacrifice to Brazier.
The Fillies pulled within three (4-7) in the top of the 4th. Hannah Osier and Prior walked, Hilker drove in a run when she reached on an error, Wallace and Brazier walked, Wheeler drove in two runs with an error and Rancourt one run with a single.
The Bobtails shut the Fillies down in the top of the 7th then went to work in the bottom of the inning to win by a 10-run mercy ruling. Wallace pushed the Bobcats over the limit with an RBI single scoring Osier.
Hitting for the Bobtails were Rancourt with a triple and single (3RBI), and Wallace and Brazier a single each. Hitting for the Fillies were Lane with a double and Sevon and Wadsworth a single each.
