Wiscasset High School’s baseball team won two of three games this week to improve their record to 6-5.
Wiscasset High School sophomore Jason Weatherbee delivered a no hit shutout in the Redskins 14-0 five inning mercy ruling win over Boothbay May 12 in Boothbay. Weatherbee struck out seven and walked four in the win. Dan Gagnon took the loss and Renee Mills pitched in relief for Boothbay.
Wiscasset scored early and often. They took a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning when Chris Brawn reached on an error, Justin Caron walked, both moved over on a double steal and both scored on passed balls. They added four runs in the 4th.
Cody Verrill walked, stole second and scored on a Zach Pinkering single. Pickering stole second and scored on a Mike Chapman single. Mason Brewer followed with an RBI single.
Wiscasset added three runs in the 3rd on a Jay Lamoureux single, Verrill error, Pickering walk, Weatherbee RBI sacrifice fly, Brawn walk and Caron two run double. They scored two runs in the 4th on a double to Lamoureux, and RBI singles to Pickering and Weatherbee; and three in the 5th on a Brawn walk, stolen base and Caron RBI single, walks to Ashton Benn and Devon Grover and an RBI error to Verrill.
Hitting for Wiscasset were Caron and Lamoureux with a double and single each, Pickering 2 singles, and Brawn, Weatherbee, Chapman and Brewer a single each.
Chapman made a nice running catch in left field in his first varsity start as a senior.
Georges Valley took a 2-0 lead with a run in the 1st and one in the 6th. Wiscasset rallied for three runs in the bottom of the 7th to pull out the win. Cody Verrill and Zack Pickering walked, moved over on a double steal and scored on a Jason Weatherbee single. Weatherbee moved over on an Ashton Benn sacrifice bunt and scored on a Justin Caron single.
Hitting for Wiscasset were Caron and Brewer with two each and Weatherbee one. Hitting for Georges Valley were Bryant Mathews and Alec Young with two each, and Maloney, Brandon Knight (1RBI) and Sam Tarbox (1RBI) with one each.
Jay Lamoureux took the loss in five innings of work, and Weatherbee pitched one inning in relief. They combined for five hits, six walks, five strikeouts, and Wiscasset committed five errors.
Wiscasset scored three runs in the 2nd inning to take a 3-1 lead. Benn sacrificed in a run and Justin Caron hit a two-run single. St. Doms tied the game in the 3rd. Wiscasset retook the lead in the 5th with one run. Ryan Segovia doubled, moved to third on a Lamoureux single and scored on a Verrill sacrifice fly.
Wiscasset scored three in the 7th. Lamoureux and Zach Pickering walked and scored on a Weatherbee double. Weatherbee scored on a Chris Brawn single.
Hitting for Wiscasset were Brawn with two singles, Segovia and Weatherbee a double each, and Caron, Lamoureux and Verrill a single each. Hitting for St. Doms were Curtis (1RBI), Parker (1RBI), C. Bryant (3RBI), Therbuilt and Desmaris with a single each. Johnson also had an RBI.
