Wiscasset returning boys’ tennis coach Chris Hammond has seven players returning from last year’s team that went 5-6 in the Mt.Valley Conference. The Redskins had a low turnout for tennis with just nine coming out for the sport.
His top player decided not to play this spring, which leaves the singles slots wide open. “They are all pretty equal. I have no idea who will be number one. It should be interesting. It will be good to have warm weather so we can get ladder games in,” Hammond said of sorting out his starting line-up.
Hammond said seniors Chris Cummings, Jesse Hinman, Ben Jones, and Jon Vandal look to battle it out in singles action. Other returning players include senior Zach LeDouz, and sophomores Jonathan West and Caleb Bryant. Newcomers to tennis this spring include athletes Corbin Percy and Tyler Sonia.
