On Saturday, Aug. 25, volunteers from the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest committee joined forces with Lincoln Academy students and staff to prepare more than 1,000 T-shirts and sweatshirts celebrating this year’s Pumpkinfest.
Volunteers spent the afternoon in the Lincoln Academy ATEC building sorting, folding, and pricing the shirts, which will be available for sale starting Wednesday, Aug. 29 at the Damariscotta Hannaford Supermarket, Main Street Grocery, The Beach Plum Co., and Supplies Unlimited. The logo featured on this year’s shirts was designed by Marybeth Canedy, of Jefferson.
Pumpkinfest will take place on Oct. 6, 7, and 8 in Damariscotta. The festival, which celebrates the fall harvest in general and giant pumpkins in particular, attracts thousands of visitors to the Damariscotta region each October. Favorite festival events include a giant pumpkin weigh-off, unique pumpkin artistry, pumpkin food of all kinds, and the world-famous pumpkin regatta. These events engage dozens of local businesses and hundreds of volunteers annually, including Lincoln Academy students and staff.
