The Central Lincoln County YMCA, at 525 Main St. in Damariscotta, will hold a benefit potluck dinner on Tuesday, Feb. 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for a local child undergoing medical treatment. All community members are invited to attend and enjoy a variety of homemade soups, salads, breads, and desserts.
Jasper, a previous CLC YMCA child-care participant, is a 22-month-old child who was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2018. The tumor was removed on Dec. 19 and Jasper has since been undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
Jasper’s mother, Bethany, is a school social worker and his father, Eric, teaches art at Damariscotta Montessori School in Nobleboro.
Due to a weakened immune system from treatment, Jasper is no longer able to attend child care and Eric has needed to give up his job in order to stay home and care for Jasper. Bethany and Eric have recently welcomed another new baby, Milo, into their family. Donations will be accepted and donated in full to the family of baby Jasper to help offset their loss of income and incurring expenses through this difficult time.
