The Bremen Board of Selectmen has postponed a public hearing and special town meeting scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 15 to consider the possibility of a temporary ban on retail sales of marijuana and marijuana social clubs.
According to Selectman Boe Marsh, the selectmen postponed the meeting to give themselves more time to discuss the town’s options.
Marsh said additional information from the Maine Municipal Association prompted the decision. “All three selectmen feel we need to do more research following new information we received from MMA,” Marsh said.
Marsh said the selectmen also want to take their time and not rush to make a decision.
“We want to go through and make sure we are doing the right thing,” Marsh said.
The selectmen will still hold their regular meeting at 5 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 15, and plan to open bids for the Heath Road bridge project during the meeting.
