Newcastle Chrysler will offer a 2018 Jeep Cherokee as the prize for hitting a hole-in-one on the third hole at the tenth annual Bristol Area Lions Golf Tournament at the Wawenock Golf Club in Walpole on Saturday, Sept. 1, with a rain date of Sept. 2.
Registration forms are available at Wawenock Golf Club or may be emailed by request by calling John Janell at 563-7402 or emailing janell@tidewater.net. The cost is $45 per person for nine holes, and includes a cart and lunch. The lunch will be lobster with corn on the cob, potato salad, and coleslaw with a roll. Burger are available for those who do not eat lobster.
Other prizes are for the first and second low gross team and low net team, closest to the pin, longest drive, closest to the lobster trap, closest to the train, and a Wawenock golf membership for next year for a hole-in-one on the eighth hole.
Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and tee time is 9 a.m. with a scramble/shotgun start. Teams of four are encouraged, but single players will be assigned to teams.
Proceeds from the tournament will be used for the Bristol Area Lions Foundation Scholarship Fund and to provide funding to other local charities, such as CHIP Inc., Round Pond Green, Caring for Kids, and other local charities. This year the club awarded five $2,500 scholarships to Lincoln Academy graduates.
