Union Church in South Bristol is joining with other UCC churches in Maine collecting cleaning supplies for Hurricane Harvey relief in Houston.
People are searching for a way to help those devastated by the hurricane. To join this effort, contact Pastor Beth Hood at 563-3193. A specific list of supplies is being collected through Friday, Sept. 15. The buckets will be delivered to Church World Service for distribution to flood victims. The church has filled three buckets.
On the list of needed supplies are scouring pads, sponges, scrub brushes, reusable cleaning towels (e.g., easy wipes), bottles of liquid laundry detergent, bottles of disinfectant dish soap, bottles of household cleaner that can be mixed with water (no spray bottles), packages of clothespins, clothesline, dust masks, nonsurgical latex gloves, work gloves with leather palms (or all leather), heavy duty or contractor-type 30-45 gallon trash bags on a roll, and 6-9 oz. bottles nonaerosol insect repellent.
