On Aug. 30, with grace, skill, and talent, 7-year-old Charlotte Ramsdell, of the Bristol village of New Harbor, took first place in junior showmanship, first place buck, and first place in the fiber division for her English Angora rabbit named Cinna Bun Buns.
This was Charlotte’s first time competing with her rabbit. She would have entered her prize chicken had it not met with an early passing at the hands of her neighbors’ dogs.
Charlotte remains hopeful for more ribbons, as she will be old enough to show more of her animals next year.
“I am so glad we were able to make the show before my surgery and burn conference trip!” said Charlotte, who was burned from eyes to her knees at age 2. She has had 33 surgeries and currently is treated at the Shriners burn unit in Boston.
Charlotte is still hopeful to raise the airfare and hotel fees for her trip to the burn victim workshops and training. She is focused on her next surgery, when doctors will replace a mesh patch put in last year that is too small.
