Central Lincoln County YMCA announces the launch of its 2017 annual fund drive with the theme “Our Y is more than a gym. It’s a cause.” Funds raised through the annual drive will provide an extraordinary opportunity to ensure a brighter future for the children, families and seniors in our region.
Giving to the CLC YMCA’s annual fund ensures that members of the community who can’t afford but deserve a Y experience have that opportunity. The Y is a not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance to ensure that no one is turned away because of inability to pay. The Y relies on charitable donations to sustain and enhance programming, serve members, and reach out to individual communities. Community support helps the Y make a meaningful and long-lasting impact here in Lincoln County.
“We’re especially pleased to announce the Stackhouse family as this year’s fund chairs,” said CLC YMCA Executive Director Meagan Hamblett. “The Stackhouse family’s commitment to the community is remarkable. One example is the annual Stackhouse Event, which raises money for YMCA Summer Camp scholarships. Annually, 50 percent of the money raised through this event goes directly to camp scholarships and 50 percent goes into the Loren St. Cyr Endowment Fund toward scholarships for the future. This year’s event, held on July 3, raised over $30,000.
“For us, a YMCA experience is life changing,” said David Stackhouse. “For 40 years and counting, our family has personally benefited from the goodness of the Y. Perhaps even more importantly, our recent involvement with the YMCA summer camp program has changed our view of what is possible when members of the community come together in a spirit of generosity and hope.”
The CLC YMCA 2017 annual fund drive officially kicks off Friday, July 12, when letters will be mailed to residences throughout the Y’s 10-town service area. Community members are asked to review the material and consider donating to support this year’s annual fund drive to continue strengthening the community. One hundred percent of the CLC YMCA’s Board of Directors and leadership-level staff have already pledged support for this year’s annual fund, contributing to this year’s goal of $125,000.
