The Central Lincoln County YMCA announces the launch of its 2018 Annual Fund drive with the theme “You Are Y.” Funds raised through the annual drive provide an extraordinary opportunity to ensure a brighter future for the children, families, and seniors in the region.
Giving to the CLC YMCA’s Annual Fund ensures members of the community who can’t afford, but deserve a Y experience, have that opportunity. The Y is a not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance to ensure that no one is turned away because of inability to pay. The Y relies on charitable donations to sustain and enhance programming, serve members, and reach out to individual communities. Community support helps the Y make a meaningful and long-lasting impact right here in our own neighborhoods.
“We’re especially pleased to announce Mariellen Whelan as this year’s fund chair,” said Meagan Hamblett, CLC YMCA Executive Director. “Mariellen’s commitment to the community is remarkable. In addition to being an active YMCA member, she is involved with the Ecumenical Committee on Homeless Prevention, The Ecumenical Food Pantry, The Ecumenical Diaper Bank, CHIP’s Community Cares Day, Habitat for Humanity, and Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens as a docent and herbarium volunteer.
“It is at the Y that I feel a sense of community with men and women who are serious about good health and actively engaged in keeping their minds and bodies working and strong.” said Whelan, “The Y is a cosmos of our community in age, background, experience, and life. By being there, I feel enriched in that diversity.”
The CLC YMCA 2018 Annual Fund drive officially kicks off the week of July 9, when letters are mailed to residences throughout the Y’s 10-town service area. Community members are asked to review the material and consider donating to support this year’s Annual Fund drive to continue strengthening the community in which we live. One hundred percent of the CLC YMCA’s board and leadership-level staff have already pledged support to this year’s Annual Fund, contributing to this year’s goal of $120,000.
