Brisk mornings of autumn are almost upon us and the beautiful colors of fall lie ahead. Unfortunately for some of our Lincoln County neighbors, this means that the chill of winter, higher fuel prices, drafts from a poorly insulated foundation or roof, and the certainty of snow and ice will soon make simple tasks a challenge.
CHIP Inc., the Community Housing Improvement Project, began in Lincoln County in the 1980s to address those issues with its compassionate mission to help neighbors stay safe, warm, and dry. The same mission remains today, made possible by fundraising efforts throughout the year and by Community Cares Day on Saturday, Sept. 9.
Volunteer carpenters, painters, contractors, and neighbors will once again improve living conditions in a dozen homes throughout the county. Community Cares Day cannot be successful without community support. Area churches and organizations provide some funding for materials, plus volunteer help, but community assistance is always appreciated. Please consider donating or volunteering through chipinc.org or by mail to CHIP Inc., P.O. Box 6, Newcastle, ME 04553.
