The Second Congregational Church of Newcastle is wrapping up its year-long celebration of the 175th anniversary since its founding in 1843 with a community party.
All are invited to join in this Sunday, Sept. 22. Come for a lively worship service beginning at 10 a.m., when community ancestors and stories will be remembered, and celebrate the church’s current ministries and vision for a bright and purposeful future.
Then all are invited to join the celebration party from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., whether one was able to join them for worship or not. The outdoor event will include music by the Lincoln Academy Jazz Band, games, food, and beverages for all ages.
The setting for the party is on the church’s grounds and parking area, at 51 Main St., Newcastle, along the scenic Damariscotta River. If it rains, one can join the party inside. Guests do not need to be a member of the church to attend. People are encouraged to come, meet their neighbors, enjoy the festivities, and celebrate 175 years and more of building this remarkable community.
