Healthy Lincoln County invites the public to participate in the Substance Use Prevention Partnership – SUPP — and join the efforts in reducing youth substance use by attending the next meeting on Thursday, May 23.
The group, known as the SUPP Coalition, has been working with community leaders and youth to prevent youth substance use for over three years. Each month, youth trends and prevention strategies are discussed in a collaborative manner with representation from across Lincoln County. May’s SUPP Coalition meeting will be held on Thursday, May 23 from 3-4:30 p.m. in the ATEC Building at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle.
“One of the benefits of attending the SUPP meetings is that you get to hear about the trends in our county from law enforcement and community partners. In these meetings, we discuss the challenges and talk about what solutions will work for our towns. Some of our ideas focus on promoting healthy activities that the entire family can take part in, and we want the community to weigh in on our ideas,” said Jess Breithaupt, the project coordinator at Healthy Lincoln County.
No fees or registration are required to join a meeting, and all community members in Lincoln County are invited to attend. If one can’t make a meeting but wants to stay informed, one can join the mailing list to receive updates on what the SUPP Coalition is planning in the coming months: email info@healthylincolncounty.org or call 563-1330.
