The Concussion Awareness Night scheduled for Wednesday, March 14 has been postponed. It will be held Thursday, March 15 from 5-7 p.m. in Lincoln Academy’s Bailey Gymnasium in Newcastle.
This event is free of charge and open to all audiences, including students, athletes, parents, coaches, teachers, school personnel, health care providers, and community members.
The keynote speaker, Ray Ciancaglini, a former professional middleweight boxer and advocate for concussion awareness from New York, will speak on how sports-related concussions have impacted his life.
Lincoln Academy’s Eric Duffy and certified athletic trainer Megan DeRaps will speak about updated sports-related concussion information that everyone needs to be aware of. There will be a question-and-answer panel at the end.
Education is key because the information is ever-changing. The organizers encourage everyone to take the initiative to take care of their brains, as they or someone they know has experienced a concussion.
