Sheepscot Valley Health Center is pleased to host a Good Shepherd Food Bank Food Mobile distribution at the Whitefield Lions Club on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Originally scheduled in January, the event was postponed due to snowy weather.
The food distribution is the first of six scheduled throughout 2018, all of which take place on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Subsequent dates include: March 21; May 16; July 18; September 19; and November 21.
Whitefield Lions Club is located next to Sheepscot Valley Health Center at 52 Main St. in Coopers Mills.
The February distribution has been made possible through the generosity of the Elizabeth Ann Leach Charitable Trust. More than 4,000 pounds of food will be distributed to people in need, including a variety of perishable and nonperishable foods. Anyone struggling to keep food on the table in Coopers Mills, Whitefield, and surrounding towns is welcome.
Good Shepherd Food Bank’s Food Mobile program expands the hunger relief organization’s outreach to Maine’s neediest and most underserved communities. Designed to be a barrier-free distribution, the Food Mobiles visit communities with a demand for emergency and supplemental food that has outgrown the capacity of local food pantries.
