Volunteers for all events and activities at Damariscotta Pumpkinfest are invited to join the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta Committee at its first monthly committee meeting for 2017. The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, March 23 at 4:30 p.m., will take place in Skidompha Public Library’s Porter Meeting Hall. The library is located at 184 Main St., across from the post office in Damariscotta. All attendees should come equipped with their calendars, as the team will be scheduling the festival’s many events as well as the entire year’s meeting dates.
The Pumpkinfest team needs individuals to fill three VIP volunteer positions, plus two assistants. Open spots including someone to chair the Pumpkin Derby event, someone to chair the slingshot and catapult event; someone to chair the pumpkin-pie-eating contest, and two people to assist Bill Clark in venue-prep for Seedling Sunday and to help him organize the pumpkin deployment operation. Potential volunteers should attend the meeting or contact Kathy Anderson, the Pumpkinfest’s volunteer administrator, at info@damariscottapumpkinfest.com
The annual Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta is a uniquely spirited event that provides education to young and old, and also an economic boost to this rural, coastal community. Its intent is to expand annually, as has been done since the first two “pumpkinboats” raced one another in 2007.
