Sen. Dana Dow, R-Lincoln, has announced the local transportation projects included in the Maine Department of Transportation work plan for calendar years 2019, 2020, and 2021. The estimated value of work in the plan totals more than $2.44 billion and encompasses 2,193 projects across Maine.
The work plan includes more than $1.4 billion in highway, bridge, and multimodal capital work, nearly $1.2 billion in highway and bridge projects, and nearly $297 million in multimodal capital projects.
Major projects scheduled for Senate District 13 include rehabilitation of the footbridge and town landing in Boothbay Harbor, new construction of a sidewalk on Route 27 in Boothbay, improvements to the intersection of Route 1 and Route 27 in Edgecomb, highway paving on Route 1 in Nobleboro and Waldoboro, and a number of intersection improvements along Route 1 in Wiscasset.
“The fact that the Department of Transportation has chosen to invest so heavily on infrastructure and maintenance within our area is encouraging,” said Dow. “Transportation investments provide a boost to the economy and ensure mobility and reliability within the area.”
The full work plan, including an interactive plan that is searchable by municipality, can be accessed at the MaineDOT website, maine.gov/mdot.
