The Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce will host a shred event and food drive at Lincoln County Publishing Co. in Newcastle on Saturday, Oct. 26. The event is open to all community members as well as chamber members.
A 10,000-pound capacity shred truck will be at the publishing company from 9 a.m. to noon. Visitors will have the choice of donating nonperishable food items per box or bag shredded that go to will benefit the Ecumenical Food Pantry or paying $10 per box or bag of documents to be shredded.
To ensure everyone has a chance to shred his or her documents, each person is limited to five boxes or bags.
Louis Doe Home Center, of Newcastle, and Chapman & Chapman Insurance Agency, Damariscotta Bank & Trust, and Supplies Unlimited, all of Damariscotta, are sponsoring the event.
