The Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta invites artists to submit an original design for this year’s festival contest. A $500 prize will be awarded to the artist whose design is selected. The winning artwork will be featured on T-shirts and hoodies, displayed throughout the area, and seen by thousands of happy Pumpkinfest visitors who come to celebrate the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta, to be held Friday through Monday, Oct. 11-14.
The design contest deadline is Tuesday, May 14.
Contest rules and eligibility
Contestants must be a Maine resident (year-round or summer), including students attending Maine universities and colleges.
The winning design will become the property of the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta. All rights of use must be released to the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta. The selected T-shirt design and the artist’s biography will be posted on the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta website, Facebook page, Instagram page, and will be officially released to the Maine and regional media.
The Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta Committee asks the winning artist to volunteer their talents by painting their winning design on one of the pumpkin shaped hay bales, which are prominently displayed throughout the area to welcome the thousands of visitors who come to celebrate the world-renowned pumpkinfest and regatta. Art work for the bales will be done approximately two weeks prior to the festival.
Parameters of artwork
To be eligible, all artwork must:
Be original, professional quality artwork (no photographs)
Include the words “2024 Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta”
Avoid elements that do not reproduce clearly such as tiny details
Design colors are unlimited, however keep in mind designs will be printed on black and grey shirts
Designs should represent the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta’s family-friendly and festive nature
Political or Halloween-themed submissions will not be accepted.
Submitting artwork:
Artists are encouraged to submit electronically. Artwork must be sent in the highest resolution possible as a JPG attachment to: artists@damariscottapumpkinfest.com.
If mailing original design, artwork should be no larger than 11 by 17 inches in size and mailed to: Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta, P.O. Box 1101, Damariscotta, ME, 04543-1101.
All submissions must be in by midnight, Tuesday, May 14.
The winner will be contacted by a Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta team member. Submitted artwork will not be returned to the artist.
