Waldoboro will celebrate the pride and patriotism of its citizens with the public’s help. Thanks to a small startup group of supporters willing to kickstart this grassroots project, the drive to generate enough donations to purchase Made-in-USA American flags for placement on the telephone poles in Waldoboro has started.
Waldoboro has been one of the few towns along the Route 1 Midcoast corridor without flags flying from the telephone poles and the gap has been noticed by many people traveling along these roads. The preliminary work has been done, Central Maine Power has approved flag placement on 128 in-town poles, and the Waldoboro Lion’s Club has agreed to handle the funds for this project. The initial $3,500 request is for 64 really good quality metal holders and flags to get coverage started.
The more funds that come in, the broader the coverage will extend. Waldoboro is the largest town in Lincoln County and has more than 80 miles of roads. Just think what that will look like with flags flying! Please help demonstrate Waldoboro’s pride and patriotism by donating to this worthy cause.
Checks can be sent to Waldoboro Lions Club/FFW, P.O. Box V, Waldoboro, ME 04572.
