Chloe Maxmin, candidate for House District 88, has been endorsed by former U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator Karen G. Mills. Mills served in President Barack Obama’s cabinet as administrator of the U.S. SBA from 2009-2013. Mills also served as the chair of Maine’s Council on Competitiveness and the Economy from 2007-2008.
“Chloe understands that small businesses are the heart of our rural economy in Maine,” Mills said. “Chloe, and young leaders like her, are bringing renewed energy to the conversation on how we strengthen support for our entrepreneurs and small businesses, and in doing so create greater economic opportunity for Mainers and our rural communities.”
Maxmin won the District 88 Democratic primary with 80 percent of the vote, breaking record turnout by 40 percent. Maxmin has been endorsed by the Maine Education Association, Maine AFL-CIO, the Maine State Employees Association — SEIU Local 1989, the National Association of Social Workers (Maine Chapter), and other local, state, and national organizations. Over 85 letters to the editor have appeared in local papers to support her campaign.
“After talking with voters since February, I know that our community is built around our small businesses,” said Maxmin. “Small businesses are how we preserve our past and invest in our future. We are honored to receive Karen Mills’ endorsement and build our vision for a robust rural economy here in District 88.”
District 88 includes Chelsea, Whitefield, Jefferson, and part of Nobleboro.
