On Thursday, Aug. 15 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Central Lincoln County YMCA, at 525 Main St. in Damariscotta, Husson University and daVinci Consulting will host a presentation called “Goal Setting and the Value of Partnerships.” This presentation will provide individuals with insight into setting personal and professional goals as well as information about how businesses and organizations can benefit from community partnerships.
“Husson believes it’s important to collaborate with individuals and organizations interested in using education to help advance their personal and professional success,” said Marie Hansen, dean of the College of Business and New England School of Communications at Husson University, located in Bangor. “Working collaboratively, it is possible to create positive change that will have a lasting impact on our personal lives and in the workplace.”
The presentation will cover:
• Why individuals should set goals.
• The best types of goals to set. Outcome, performance, and process goals will all be discussed.
• How change is connected to big differences in overall performance.
• Why businesses, organizations, and higher education all need each other.
“In today’s world, individuals and managers must be able to set goals if they want to improve their own personal performance or the success of their organization. Setting goals gives you purpose and direction. If you don’t know where you want to go, don’t be surprised if you don’t get any place,” said Vince Pelote, a managing partner with daVinci Consulting.
The event is free and open to the public. Participants are asked to register in advance by calling Rebecca Telega, the marketing and membership coordinator of the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce, at 563-8340 or emailing info@damariscottaregion.com.
This presentation is another example of collaborative efforts by Husson University with Damariscotta-area organizations. Recently, the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce and Husson University partnered to provide chamber members with a 10% discount on MBA courses. More information about this is available at tinyurl.com/hussondamariscottachambermba.
Additionally, daVinci Consulting and Husson University are working together to give area residents an opportunity to receive a 75% reduction in cost for the completion of the daVinci leadership course, “The Art and Science of Leadership.” This course will be offered in Damariscotta starting this fall. Registrations for the daVinci course and MBA courses at Husson University are still being accepted. Both Husson and daVinci Consulting will be present to answer enrollment questions at this event.
