Midcoast Conservancy and the Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District will host a gravel roads workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at the Jefferson fire station. This workshop was previously scheduled for Oct. 10.
The workshop is being provided for contractors, municipal officials, road associations, and homeowners as an interactive experience to learn best methods for gravel road construction and maintenance. A classroom portion will be followed by field visits to view the applied theory. Speakers will include Peter Coughlan, of Maine DOT, and David Rocque, the Maine State Soil Scientist. The workshop is being supported in-part by a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant to prevent pollution and improve water quality in the Damariscotta Lake watershed. More details will follow. Contact Garrison Beck at Midcoast Conservancy for more information at 389-5157.
