Thursday, April 13 is Maundy Thursday — Last Supper day. It is also pantry day at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church’s Help Yourself Shelf. The church meets in the same space as the Help Yourself Shelf holds it pantry on that day. Help Yourself Shelf and the church fathers believe it is important to honor both the needs of area people for food aid and the church’s Holy Week service, scheduled for 6 p.m.
The resolution is that, given sunny weather, Help Yourself Shelf will set up outside the building at 12 Hodge St. in Wiscasset. But whether inside or outside, instead of starting at 5 p.m., Help Yourself Shelf attendees will be allowed to make choices earlier, as soon as they arrive after 3:30 p.m. Help Yourself Shelf will close up shop at 5:30 p.m. sharp, allowing for cleanup prior to the 6 p.m. start of church service.
For questions and clarifications, call 882-7184, leave a message, and a Help Yourself Shelf representative will respond.
