The Jefferson Area Community Food Pantry provides food assistance on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, from 4-5:30 p.m., at St. Giles’ Episcopal Church, 72 Gardiner Road, Jefferson. Pantry food is purchased primarily from Good Shepherd Food Bank; donations are also received from neighbors in Jefferson and Somerville, local organizations, and the USDA.
Recently, food was received from Central Lincoln County YMCA members who shopped at Hannaford Supermarket and participated in the Y’s “Fill the Bus” program. Summer and early fall have brought wonderful fresh produce from the Twin Villages Foodbank Farm program in Damariscotta and CSA shares from County Fair Farm in Jefferson, along with continuing Sunday morning collections from parishioners of St. Giles’ Episcopal Church.
Donations can be made by making a check out to St. Giles’ Episcopal Church, the fiscal sponsor of the Jefferson Area Community Food Pantry. Please note “JACFP” on the memo line of the check and send it to P. O. Box 34, Jefferson, ME 04348. For more information and/or to volunteer, call 315-1134.
