State Sen. Dana Dow, R-Waldoboro, representing the members of the Senate and House of Representatives for the state of Maine, recently joined in recognizing Michael Hall, owner of Hall Funeral Homes, with locations in Waldoboro, Boothbay, and Thomaston, for receiving the Business Person of the Year Award from the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce.
Hall founded Karl’s Kids, a nonprofit program of the Rotary Club of Damariscotta-Newcastle, helping Lincoln County youth get involved in athletics and outdoor pursuits by providing equipment needed to participate. Karl’s Kids has helped more than 1,200 kids in the past 10 years since Karl’s Kids was founded.
Dow presented a certificate from the members of the Senate and House of Representatives and extended to Hall their congratulations and best wishes: “And be it ordered that this official expression of sentiment be sent forthwith on behalf of the 128th Legislature and the people of the State of Maine.”
Dow personally congratulated Hall for his active involvement in the Lincoln County community through business and volunteerism. “These contributions enhance the overall economic health of the region and the well-being of the general population by making Lincoln County a better place,” Dow said. “Michael’s dedication to his community and the citizens of Lincoln County is remarkable and should serve as an example to all others wishing to become more active in their communities. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. It is an honor to represent you in the State Senate.”
Karl’s Kids 11th annual ski event will be held at Sugarloaf on Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3. For more information on Karl’s Kids, go to karlskids.org or call Hall at 832-5541.
