The long-awaited 2019 version of the Lincoln County Road Atlas, published by Lincoln County Publishing Co., is now available.
The first new printing of the atlas since 2012, this edition includes many improvements, including larger, color maps and contour lines.
The cover features the four branches of emergency response – emergency medical services, fire, law enforcement, and the Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency – at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse Park. Lincoln County Publishing Co. and the emergency management agency unveiled the cover in April.
“Lincoln County EMA is proud to support the Lincoln County Road Atlas,” said Casey Stevens, director of the Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency. “We cannot overstate the importance of preparedness, so to have a reliable map of Lincoln County that doesn’t rely on electricity is invaluable in the event of an emergency.”
“While many people can access maps on their phones, GPS can fail and your batteries can die,” Associate Publisher John Roberts said. “The road atlas will work no matter where you are. Even if the paper rips, you can still read it.”
The new road atlas is now available at Lincoln County Publishing Co., 116 Mills Road, Newcastle, for $8.95 plus tax.
In an effort to support local emergency agencies, the company is offering a special incentive. For anyone who buys a copy for a local EMS, fire, or law enforcement agency, half of the cover price will be donated to that agency in their name. Lincoln County Publishing Co. will handle the distribution of the road atlases and donations to spread them across the county’s agencies.
“As we were developing the atlas, one of the things we always considered was if first responders, firefighters, or law enforcement would be able to use the maps in case of an emergency,” said Roberts, who also serves as Damariscotta’s fire chief. “This is a little way that we can give back to these agencies that work hard to keep us all safe.”
