Ever since the Pagurko family escaped a house fire in Whitefield on Sept. 3, the local community has been responding to the family’s needs to help them move on from a tragedy that destroyed their 1850s farmhouse.
GoFundMe sites have been raising funds in support of the family’s needs as well as in support of the construction of a new home. To donate, go to gofundme.com/help-the-pagurko-family or gofundme.com/pagurko-house-fire-fund.
A Pagurko family benefit will take place on Friday, Sept. 29 from 5:30-9 p.m. at the Lakehurst Lodge, 30 Lakehurst Lane, Damariscotta. It will bring the community together for a lovely evening of dinner and dancing for a suggested donation of $5 per person or $20 per family. The event will feature a delicious homemade pasta dinner, live music by Esther-M, a raffle, and a silent auction. There will also be a dessert potluck.
Dancers and singers are welcome to perform a short piece to share the love for the Pagurko family. Through Dance Maineia, Melanie Pagurko has been teaching dance in Midcoast Maine for more than 30 years. Many children and adults have experienced the joy of movement thanks to her passion and desire to teach students of all ages and abilities in a positive setting.
The Pinkham family has generously donated the space for the event and many community members and businesses have also contributed. The Pagurko family has been overwhelmed by the support it has received and would like to thank everyone who is helping the family.
