Eleanor Nery, who recently graduated from both Lincoln Academy and Bath Regional Career and Technical Center, is the latter’s student of the year.
Each spring 27 students from around the state are honored as Maine Career and Technical Education Students of the Year. Each of the CTE schools in Maine select one student to receive this honor.
Nery is the second Lincoln Academy student in two years to receive this honor following Abigayle Reed in 2022.
Each sending program submitted a description of their student and the reasons they were selected as students of the year.
“I am so proud of Eleanor and this accomplishment, which is another in a long line of accolades for her,” said Jeff Burroughs, Lincoln Academy head of school. “We had a chance to experience her culinary talents when she catered a reception this spring, and it was just incredible.”
Nery, who graduated with honors from Lincoln Academy on Friday, June 7, is headed for a gap year before she returns to attend culinary school. During her gap year she plans a hiking trip out west, and then time in Ireland, where she will be farming as part of Worldwide Opportunities of Organic Farms.
