Damon Crummett, 18, of Newcastle, was presented with his Eagle Scout badge during a court of honor on Saturday, Nov. 30 at the Wells-Hussey American Legion Post No. 42 in Damariscotta.
The Troop 213 Eagle Scout completed his Eagle Scout project last summer. For his project, he organized the moving of a garden shed at Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust’s Great Salt Bay Farm in Damariscotta to the other side of the road. He also organized a building crew to add a lean-to onto the shed and build new stairs.
Eagle Scout Chuck Mahaleris gave Crummett’s Eagle charge. Crummett presented Assistant Scoutmaster Chris Roberts with his mentor pin and a plaque for all he has done for Scouting the past 25-plus years.
Damon Crummett presented his parents, Cheryl and Mark Crummett, with pins. His father and scoutmaster, Mark, presented Damon with his Eagle Scout pin.
Damon Crummett held bottle drives to purchase the materials for the lean-to and stairs. Quick Turn Auto Repair & Towing, of Damariscotta, moved the building for him.
He earned 28 merit badges on his trail to Eagle, including 13 required to achieve the rank of Eagle.
At his Eagle Scout board of review, Crummett was asked what he would add if he could add a 13th law to the Scout Law. Damon said his 13th law would require Scouts to be prompt and show up on time.
Crummett is a freshman at Northern Maine Community College, where he is studying diesel mechanics.
