After a weeklong voting period, the Alna Snowmobile Club swept both the Spirit Award and the People’s Choice Award for its entry in the Parade of Lights.
The parade, held Saturday, Nov. 24 in Damariscotta and Newcastle, was part of the Villages of Light celebration.
After the parade, individuals could vote for their favorite entries via a poll at villagesoflight.com. During the weeklong voting period, 145 votes were cast.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office won best town/municipal parade entry. The Waltz family’s Grinch-themed float was voted best individual/family entry.
The Damariscotta Fire Department took best fire truck, while Louis Doe Home Center’s entry was voted best business float.
The Alna Snowmobile Club won best nonprofit entry with a whopping 51.8 percent of the vote.
The club received the most votes to win the Spirit Award, edging out the Waltz family and Country Coach Charters, which came in second and third, respectively.
The snowmobile club also won the People’s Choice Award. The Waltz family took second place, while Country Coach Charters and Louis Doe Home Center tied for third.
