For the second year in a row, the Alna Snowmobile Club swept both the Spirit Award and the People’s Choice Award for its entry in the Parade of Lights.
The parade, held Nov. 30 in Damariscotta and Newcastle, was part of the Villages of Light celebration.
After the parade, the public could vote for their favorite entries via a poll on the event’s Facebook page. During the weeklong voting period, 374 votes were cast.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office won best town/municipal parade entry. The horse-drawn Santa Claus was voted best individual/family entry.
Bristol Fire and Rescue took best fire truck, while Louis Doe Home Center’s entry was voted best business float for the second year in a row.
The Alna Snowmobile Club won best nonprofit. The club received the most votes to win the Spirit Award, edging out Mobius. Twin Villages Church and Y-Knot Underground tied for third.
The snowmobile club also won the People’s Choice Award. Mobius took second and Y-Knot Underground took third.
