Fall is right around the corner, and with it comes Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta. Participants are currently being sought for the Giant Pumpkin Parade, a hallmark event of the annual celebration, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 12.
“The Giant Pumpkin Parade is largest parade in Lincoln County, and we’re always looking to make it bigger and better,” said Pumpkinfest Parade Chairman Mark Doe.
Participants must observe important safety procedures, including but not limited to secured float riders, supervision of youth, and insured vehicles. Ultimate responsibility for safety lies with each parade participant, which must implement relevant government regulations, safety codes, and manufacturer’s recommendations to operate safely.
Entries that are political, religious, controversial, or vulgar are strictly prohibited, as is fundraising of any kind, drinking alcohol, smoking, use of controlled substances, fireworks, and pyrotechnics of any kind. No items, including candy, may be thrown from a float to spectators.
All participants must submit a completed and signed parade application waiver prior to Tuesday, Oct. 1 to Doe. There will be no day-of registrations allowed. Unacceptable applicants will be notified by email, and all decisions are final. Any violation of the safety procedures will result in banning of participation in future Giant Pumpkin Parades.
