A Lincoln County Recovery Collaborative planning meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 26, from 5:30-7 p.m., in the Porter Meeting Hall at Skidompha Public Library, 184 Main St., Damariscotta. The purpose of the meeting is to brief community members on the addiction problem in Lincoln County, provide an update on the “Bridges to Recovery” and prevention efforts, and seek answers to the questions “How can we help?” and “What else can we do to be part of the solution?”
Following are the ideas that have been suggested since this work began about a year ago:
Prevention:
- Evidence-based youth and family education programs
- Revised prescribing practices
Treatment:
- Law enforcement outreach and Medication Assisted Treatment — intensive therapy, or “Bridges to Recovery”
- Employment
- Transitional housing
- Transportation
- Community attitudes about addiction and recovery (stigma)
The public’s thoughts are sought on how to further the work already in progress, as well as which of these and other ideas to work on next in reducing the current drug-addiction problem and how those ideas can be accomplished.
All members of the public are welcome to come, listen, be heard, and become part of the solution. To find out more, contact Chris Johnson at 549-3358 or chris@dirigo.net, or Karen-Ann Hagar at 563-9622 or khagar@clcymca.org.
