During the month of December, Rising Tide Community Market in Damariscotta donated $343.22 to Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Edgecomb. Each spring, Rising Tide member-owners nominate community organizations to participate in the Co-ops for Community Day program. Organizations with the most nominations appear on the ballot during the co-op’s annual board elections, and Rising Tide member-owners vote to determine which 10 local nonprofit organizations will be the recipients during the upcoming year.
In this program, Rising Tide donates .5 percent of its Wednesday sales to a different local organization each month.
Rising Tide Community Market is a natural food cooperative with 3,500-plus member-owners located at 323 Main St. in Damariscotta. The co-op is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
