Despite the snow on the ground, spring has arrived, and the garden seedlings in the greenhouses of Morning Dew Farm’s Seedling & Supply, at 49 Center St. in Damariscotta, are loving the longer daylight hours.
Morning Dew Farm’s Seedling & Supply’s Seedling Saturday sales will start up again on April 28 and will run through mid-June.
According to co-owner Brady Hatch, “Last year’s Seedling Saturdays were a great success and a festive way to kick off the growing season. We were thrilled with the positive feedback and look forward to sharing our passion and skill for growing our own food and flowers without harmful pesticides with our community again this year. We love answering organic gardening questions!”
In response to customer demand, Hatch and her partner, Brendan McQuillen, will be open for some weekday hours during this year’s seedling season and will offer some indoor shopping options. They have also added requested varieties to their offerings, including earlier basil, strawberry plants, and hanging baskets. “There will still be plenty of our signature lettuce and kale seedling blends, too,” said McQuillen.
The farm offers a seedling pre-order option for those who want to secure their favorite varieties by ordering by Thursday, April 5. The form can be found at morningdeworganic.com.
Also on the site, customers can find information on the farm’s newly launched Free Choice CSA program, which offers a discount to members once the fields are green again.
